Former Linklaters partners, Michael Bott and Mirthe van Kesteren, have launched a new law firm in London – Bott Van Kesteren Partners Limited (BVK). BVK will provide English law advice to a wide range of lenders and borrowers on commodities-backed and other international structured financings.
Bott and Van Kesteren are top-ranked lawyers who are acknowledged by the market as leaders in their field. Between them, they have more than 50 years’ experience working on the most complex financings for companies, financial institutions, government agencies and multi-lateral organisations around the world.
They leave roles as senior partners in Linklaters’ Banking department, where Bott led the firm’s tier 1 CIS banking practice and Van Kesteren led its tier 1 London-based emerging markets banking and trade & commodity finance practices and its CIS and Ukraine desks. They will continue to focus on these practice areas at BVK. BVK’s competitive platform will enable Bott and Van Kesteren to expand their client base beyond large corporates and financial institutions, and they now look forward to working with a broader range of clients, including SMEs and commodities traders.
“Legal fees are under increasing scrutiny; at BVK, Mirthe and I can be responsive to our clients’ budgets, while doing what we enjoy most – working shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients on complex deals and giving them the benefit of our expertise and experience.” says Bott.
“Our clients want senior lawyers who think alongside them, support them in their decision-making and partner with them to achieve their commercial goals. The market increasingly demands value-for-money legal advice, irrespective of the size of the company or transaction, and we are excited to be able to offer this at BVK.” says Van Kesteren.
BVK launches on 1 October 2020.
